Danny V

MEET THE SONGWRITER - 5 QUICK QUESTIONS:

Why do you write songs? (When/why did you start writing, what do you enjoy and what keeps you going?)

A: Been writing over 50 years, enjoy lots of variety, need to get stuff out of my head to preserve a semblance of sanity.

How would you describe the emotional world or themes your songs tend to explore? (What is it that you would like people to learn, hear, feel or take from your songs?)

A: Write mostly what I feel about stuff that is impacting Earth, and life on Earth. Occasionally write lighter drivel to ease the load on audience.

Which artists or songwriters have had the biggest influence on your musical journey?

A: Everything I've heard has had some impact: giants include David Bowie, Bob Dylan, John Mayall, Donovan, CSNY, Beatles, Joni Mitchell ... This is an unfair question, I could go on forever!

Describe your songwriting process. How does a song usually begin for you?

A: I don't plan, I hit the strings anyhow, then sometimes a spark I can manage to fan into flame. Lyrics keep me awake at night, and torture me.

If you were to be stranded on a desert island and could only take two albums with you, what would they be?

A: Something light-hearted from the 60s, and something from the depths of David Bowie. Not sure how I could play them, though. Deserted island? Maybe just give me my guitar!

Where can you listen to Danny’s songs?…
