Sam Floyd (aka Recklass Knecklass is a genderbending storyteller, poet and fashion icon who "sings" and plays raucous fingerpicking guitar. He grew up in the circus, pursued playwrighting for many years, and now pays the bills as Canberra's sexiest qualified baker.

Why do you write songs? (When/why did you start writing, what do you enjoy and what keeps you going?)
A: To tell stories and process experiences and emotions. I try to write joyful and love songs as I love music to lift me up. Singing is uniquely cathartic.
How would you describe the emotional world or themes your songs tend to explore? (What is it that you would like people to learn, hear, feel or take from your songs?)
A: Love and romance, confidence, free expression and bums.
Which artists or songwriters have had the biggest influence on your musical journey?
A: The raw and raucous unpolished early recordings of Billy Bragg. The next level fingerpicking percussive guitar of Lindsey Buckingham. The relentless hooks, lyrics and prolific creativity of the Magnetic Fields.
Describe your songwriting process. How does a song usually begin for you?
A: A lyrical phrase or melodic hook, usually simultaneously...Explore what follows...Declare it finished as soon as possible to make way for the next song!
